Spring
Spring time is when the grass begins to grow more rapidly, with warmer temperatures and more daylight hours.
It is the ideal time to introduce an application containing a higher percentage of nitrogen, and in contrast to the winter months where the main emphasis was on root development, we want to encourage lush new growth and thickening of the sward.
Summer
With grass growth in full swing now, and cutting frequency increased, now is the time to apply a further balanced nutrition to the grass plant to maintain healthy growth.
At this point we also apply a liquid selective herbicide to control seasonal lawn weeds, to prevent competition to the grass species which can result in thinning, or patchy areas.
Our selective herbicides are both child and pet friendly, and at this time of year because temperatures can be high we use fertilisers that will not scorch and do not require to be watered in.
In times of drought they will sit there quite happily until the next rainfall.
Autumn
At this time of year the grass growth will be gradually slowing down, and now is the time to apply the last substantial treatment of the year as far as nitrogen is concerned.
This will ensure the grass plant will go into the winter months strong and healthy, be able to survive low temperatures , and combat any turf diseases that can occur. It will also help recover any damage or excessive wear to the lawn done through summer time activities.
We also apply a final spot check for weeds , and begin to harden off the grass with moss controller , soil conditioner, and soil improvers.
These are normally applied in a combination of granular and liquid products.
Winter
With grass leaf growth now at a minimum, we turn attention to what lies beneath the sward profile and apply treatments that are designed to develop root growth, correct soil deficiencies, address any surface drainage problems, and add bio stimulants which correct any macro , and micro elements which the grass plant may be lacking.
Winter treatments are mainly applied in liquid form which speeds up their effectiveness.
